The earth was once a super continent conected together. It was formed millions of years ago holding many species. When the continental drift happened it broke appart the continent and then they shifted away acrost the sea. The animals were forced to adapt and change as their climates did. The species evolved and pretty soon they were widespread creatures.
This would explain why tropic plant fossils were found in the antarctic. They died from the climate change and were preserved in the snow. This caused all tropic creatures in the continent to die. The snow covered the remains and the fossils

The Grand Canyon is a huge deep ravine. Formed by erosion it consists of water and limestone. It is a likely place to find fossils and go rafting. The most common thing to do is to peer down in to this ancient canyon. It is a few thousand years old. It is a likely place to find an ancient Diplocus a 20,000 year old fish. I know because I bought one of these fossils from a fossil shop. They look like parhanas and have many teeth. They range from anywhere between 12" and are about 3" wide. They were many of these found in the cayon.
It is in superposition due to its width and depth. This canyon is wide and holds water even being in the desert. It remains full of water and is very crosscutting. The canyon ranges to be from lenghts of many miles long down a huge rocky cliffts. This is a very unique feature for such a landmark to have. Peppered moths are a very common species. They are found in North America and Europe. The peppered moths have been around for many years. In science I learned that during the industrial revolution back in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Peppered moths were becoming scarce and a new black moth was about the countries. What was this new species? thought the puzzled scientists. They had never seen such a species. What could this new thing be. It in fact was a peppered moth that had mutated. They reproduced and more of these new mutants were born. Pretty soon the towns and cities were full with nothing but these black moths. The country was full of the peppered moths while the city was filled with black moths
The whole country was filled with these new species what would people do. They began to stop the factories when they found out the natural world was being affected. Scientists were able to fiqure this out and study that black noths survived only in the forests and peppered survived the birds. Over population can be good and bad. It has many impacts on the environment around it. For example, if a herd of cattle come in to a high plant populated area it will be devastated by the cows. If they are lucky only some of the plants will survive. Once this happens the cows with go else where for food and have trouble finding it. They will compete against eachother and some will die. The ground will lose its fertality and it will turn baron. The dirt will be all that remains and leave all the small creatures starving. They will have to leave too or die of starvation. So the animals leave to a new biome.
Another example would be the dinosaurs. They ate all sorts of things. Most were plant eaters but some were meat eaters. They ate the other animals and the plant eaters stayed hidden and ate plants. When the land started to grow dry and lose it,s lush water holes and lakes along with the vegitation. The dinosaurs began to compete against eachother and it led to the competition and death of the dinosaurs. It was very interesting to have to make those little paper pet things. I thought it was interesting for a while but it wasn't that neat. I learned though how to use punnet squares. I thought that cool. I know how to use a punnet square with no problem. I can easily use this method and still know how to solve things with this square. Such as, finding the probability of genetics or the outcome of the offspring of the children. I can use this to solve lots of probabilities with ease. I know lots about genetics thanks to the punnet square.
Punnet Squares are the graph that measures the possibilities and outcomes of two parents childeren. They determine the outcomes of the offspring by determining the two parents traits it has many different possibilities depending on the parents. For example if a white rabbit is Homozygous dominant and it has childeren with a Heterozygous reccesive rabbit the outcomes with be white rabbits but they won't be pure bread anymore. This is because of the rabbit being homozygous dominant it makes it impossible for the offspring to be black. but, if a brown rabbit that is heterozygous has offspring with a heterozygous black rabbit they could be half black half brown, 75% black and 25% brown, or 75% brown and 25% black. It just has many possibilities due to the parents being heterozygous.
Same with any animal if two humans have offspring and thw male is heterozygous for dark skin and the female is heterozygous for light skin they could have either dark skin babies or light skin babies it all depends on the parents traits. That is what a punnet Square does. The DNA ornaments were a cool project to help us get a better understanding of how the structure works. It helped us recognize certain parts of the DNA and what their called. It helped me for sure I know all the names of the parts in a DNA structure. What they are needed for and why they are needed. I use these pictures in my mind to know what the structures are needed for and why they are needed. It is a pretty cool subject that have come to learn over time.
I like doing fun projects like this for the simple fact it helps me learn in a more creative way that helps me get better understanding of things. I do like doing fun stuff that involves learning because it causes me to stay more focused into the learning process. I hope we do more projects like this soon. My hardest topic in Science Class last Quarter was looking at the slides in the microscope. It was hard for me due to me having trouble getting the slide to be perfectly flat under the stag clips. When I finally got the slide under the scope I could see lots of weird looking cells. It sort of looked like a busy highway being looked at from a huge satellite. I was amazed. Then charting the data was sort of challenging because then, I didn't really know about the different degree zooming level names of the three view points. I overcame this by asking my other partners in the room which degree was which. When I finally got a good answer I learned how to properly use a microscope.
Sometimes I put to much water in the slide cover and it sort of drowned my cell so it didn't work properly. It was pretty cool and exciting to watch the cell alive and crawling. It crawled all around with it's other fellow cells. DNA structures are made up of many different parts of many different sizes. It is in a chain format known as a Double Helix. It consists of sugars, phosphates, and bases. There are different matters used in DNA Thymine, Guanine, Adenine, and Cytosine. They are very important to the shape of the Double Helix. Many scientists today wonder about the twisted miracle. It is quite a wonder but at least scientists know more about it then they used to. Many DNA structures are built from parent DNA copies. The new ones have many parent traits and their own.
The new DNA structures are then stored in the chromosomes in the Nucleus. Many scientists took a long time of research and studying for the findings of the DNA structure. It can be very confusing but some how human scientists found out. DNA has many parts including phosphate groups which are part of the main structure sort of like the base. It includes proteins and copies of the parents DNA. Also known as the blueprint of life it consists of sugars, carbohydrates, phosphate groups, and parents DNA. People studied the structure in the early forties and discovered it in the mid fifties. It is very important to be in the living body of an organism. Anedine another source object in the DNA plays another key role. It conducts part of the functions in the DNA. Guanine like Anedine plays another role alot similar.
DNA is made up of fibers and tissues that are very complex. Sort of like a encryption code in a computer. It needs these fibers to hold it together and the main connection is in the middle. It is very important for the DNA to have these step like links. DNA in many ways is looked at like a twisted shape or a twisted staircase. In that suggestion they are right perhaps, it does look like a latter or twisted staircase the staircase of life. These DNA moluceules are very important for us living organisms. |
