The African Spurred tortoise is the third biggest tortoise in the world. The only bigger tortoises are the Galopagos tortoise and the Aldabra tortoise. The spurred tortoise is from the Sahara and sahel deserts in africa. They live from fifty to one hundred and fifty years. The males grow up to be thirty six inches long and weigh up to two-hundred pounds. Females range to be about twenty-four inches long and weigh up to one hundred-fifty pounds. To stay cool in such hard of inviornments they dig deep holes in the mud and hid under shady trees.
