Rainbows form from light refracting off of a liquid. Such as water you se a rainbow usually when it rains. Sometimes if you look through a waterhose you can notice a small rainbow shining through it. This is because the colors in light are becoming visible from refraction. When the suns rays hit it from an angle it produces the light we know as a rainbow.
